| Sindh copies DHA for its civil servants |
It is now the turn of Sindh's civil servants to get bungalows/ houses during or after their services end. Land for these houses will be provided 'free of cost' to a body called Sindh Civil Servants Housing Foundation.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has okayed (Oct 1) an ordinance to establish the foundation which would help provide houses to the serving and retired civil servants on a 'no-profit, no-loss' basis in Sindh. The ordinance provides for transferring, from time to time, state or nazul land free of cost for the purpose.
The foundation will be headed by Chief Secretary Sindh as chairman who will have a whole lot of (12) senior Sindh officers as directors. Six of them will be ex-officio members of the board while the remaining six would be nominayed by the government.
It could not be immediately learned as to when the nascent foundation will get cracking.
Pakistan Employees Coop-erative Housing Society, Kara-chi, in brief formed in early 1950s, was the first such venture in Pakistan 's history. How-ever, it was not replicated elsewhere in the country.
With enormous estates in all major cities of the country, Defence Officers Housing Authority is about the biggest real estate personality in the country. Beginning in Karachi , it has taken nearly 40 years to attain this place of honor, nay envy, amongst civilian officers of all colors and stature.
Rarely do army or civilian officers get such 'perks' elsewhere in the world. |
